IGP Kashmir gets additional charge of J&K Armed Police after Anand Jain’s transfer to Ladakh
Srinagar, June 23: Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi, has been assigned the additional charge of the head of the Armed Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police following the transfer of ADG Armed Anand Jain to Ladakh as its new DGP, officials said.
As per the official order Jain has been relieved from his duties with immediate effect on Monday, consequent upon the Ministry of Home Affairs order dated June 22, 2026, transferring the IPS officer to the Union Territory of Ladakh.
“Vidhi Kumar Birdi, IPS, IG Kashmir Zone, shall hold the charge of Head of the Armed Wing, J&K, in addition to his own duties till further orders,” the official communication read.
Jain, who was heading the crucial Armed Wing of the UT police, has been moved to Ladakh as part of the central government’s reshuffle of IPS officers in the Union Territories.
