Jammu: The BJP’s Kashmir Displaced District (KDD) unit on Friday held a series of meetings with district administrations across the valley, seeking the removal of encroachments on properties belonging to Kashmiri Pandits and a dedicated grievance redressal camps for displaced employees of the community.
The party’s KDD unit in a statement reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights, properties and welfare of the Kashmiri Pandit community.
A delegation led by KDD president Rajeev Pandita met deputy commissioners and senior revenue officers in several districts to press for resolution of long-pending issues concerning displaced and non-displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
The delegation raised concerns over alleged encroachments on Kashmiri Pandit properties and temple lands, welfare measures for employees of Prime Minister’s Package, and issues affecting other people of the community living in the valley.
The meetings were held as a follow-up to concerns highlighted during the delegation’s previous visit to Kashmir and focused on securing administrative intervention in cases involving residential, agricultural and religious properties belonging to displaced Kashmiri Pandits.
During a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, Pandita sought a separate and safer access road to the Machbhawan transit accommodation that provides housing to PM Package employees.
He also submitted applications regarding encroachment cases and urged the administration to make adequate arrangements for the forthcoming Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela at Logripora in Ashmuqam.
Pandita further demanded a dedicated grievance redressal camp for PM Package employees in Anantnag. The district administration assured the delegation that such a camp would be organised shortly.
In Kupwara, the BJP leader met Deputy Commissioner Shrikant Balasaheb Suse and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Mumtaz Ahmad to discuss the long-pending issue of compensation and land allotment for Kashmiri Pandit families of Tikker, whose lands have remained under the occupation of various government departments since 1990.
According to the BJP, the district administration took note of the matter and issued directions for its resolution. Pandita, accompanied by affected families and revenue officials, also visited the site identified for the proposed land allotment.
The delegation additionally raised issues relating to the protection of temple lands at Langet and Sadhu Ganga Asthapan Kandi and sought renovation and reconstruction of the historic Chandi Mata Mandir in Lolab. Arrangements for devotees attending the upcoming Mata Kheer Bhawani Mela at Tikker were also discussed.
At Baramulla, Pandita met Deputy Commissioner Syed Fakhrudin Hamid and highlighted the need for renovation, reconstruction and removal of encroachments from five ancient temples located in Bomai-Idipora area of Tehsil Zangeer.
He also held discussions with tehsildar Zangeer Zahid Rashid, who assured prompt action on the issues raised.
The BJP delegation further discussed the welfare, security and rehabilitation concerns of PM Package employees and non-displaced Kashmiri Pandits across the valley, stressing the need for sustained administrative support and confidence-building measures.
Speaking to reporters after the meetings, Pandita described the exercise as a significant step towards ensuring justice for the community and preserving its religious and cultural heritage.
“The protection of community assets, retrieval of illegally occupied properties, preservation of temples and shrines, and ensuring the safety and welfare of Kashmiri Pandits remain among the foremost priorities of BJP,” he said.
Pandita said the initiative reflected Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to the welfare and development of all sections of society and asserted that the BJP unit would continue engaging with the administration until the genuine concerns of the community were addressed.
