GMC Handwara conducts two-day workshop on Biomedical Research Methodology
Handwara: The Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara, organized a two-day Basic Workshop on Research Methodology for Biomedical Research on June 11–12, a statement issued by the Medical College said.
The workshop witnessed active participation from faculty members of GMC Handwara and was enriched by the presence of distinguished resource persons from leading medical institutions of Jammu and Kashmir.
The visiting faculty included Prof. (Dr.) Javed, Professor, Department of Community Medicine, SKIMS Srinagar; Dr. Inaamul Haq, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, GMC Srinagar; and Dr. Zahid, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, GMC Baramulla, the statement added.
Over the course of two days, participants engaged in extensive deliberations on various aspects of biomedical research, including introduction to research, its benefits and challenges, formulation of research aims, objectives, hypotheses and research questions, title selection, review of literature, research designs, observational studies, randomized controlled trials, randomization techniques, and sampling methods.
The workshop also covered proposal writing, measurement and variables, sample size estimation in health research, descriptive and inferential statistics, use of Mendeley Reference Manager, and research ethics. A hands-on session on the development and discussion of a research protocol was conducted to enhance practical understanding among participants.
An interactive quiz session was also organized, providing participants an opportunity to assess and reinforce their learning. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks, with participants appreciating the initiative for strengthening research skills and promoting a culture of scientific inquiry among medical professionals.
