Police arrests two drug peddlers in Handwara
Srinagar: Police in Handwara arrested two drug peddlers in separate operations and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that in the first operation at Manzgam Crossing Vilgam, a naka was established on the general road where a person moving under suspicious circumstances was intercepted.
He has been identified as Altaf Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Samad Mir resident of Matipora Tarathpora. During personal search, a charas-like contraband substance was recovered from his possession, the spokesman added.
In another operation at Utingroo Qalamabad. a suspect was apprehended during naka checking. He has been identified as Naseer Ahmad Ahanger son of Khazir Mohammad Ahanger, resident of Audoora Qalamabad . During search, a Charas like substance was recovered from his possession, the spokesman said.
All the accused have been arrested and accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Stations, and further investigation is underway to unearth the broader network involved, he added.
