Property of NDPS accused demolished in Kulgam: Police
Srinagar: In a major action against drug-related activities, police in Kulgam along with district administration demolished three illegally under construction shops belonging to the NDPS accused Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat resident of Chinigam Frisal, of jurisdiction police station Yaripora, a police spokesman said.
The action was carried out in strict compliance with legal formalities. The demolished property was linked with the accused, who is involved in narcotics-related offences, as part of the ongoing drive against drug peddlers and their support networks, he said.
In its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and narcotics-related activities under the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan,” police in Srinagar attached a residential house along with land worth approximately ₹1.20 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Post Noorbagh of Police Station Safakadal.
The attached property belongs to Adil Manzoor Bhat @ Watson son of Manzoor Ahmad Bhat resident of Pamposh Colony, Noorbagh, Srinagar, who is involved in Case FIR No. 48/2022 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Safakadal. The accused is presently on bail granted by the Court, the spokesman added.
The attachment has been carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, after obtaining due approval from the competent authority, SAFEMA, New Delhi.
In another major breakthrough against drug trafficking, police in Qazigund successfully busted an interstate narcotics network and arrested a notorious woman drug peddler along with her associate during sustained anti-drug operations in the district.
The operation began when a naka party deployed at Churrat near Kund Mode apprehended one suspicious person identified as Shakoor Khan son of Ahdoos Khan resident of Madenpora, Delhi (A/P Khanabal Batpora). During his personal search, approximately 6.9 grams of Heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession, leading to the registration of FIR No. 116/2026 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act.
During sustained investigation, police established backward linkage to a notorious womandrug peddler, Rekha W/O Mohammad Suleman resident of Bawana, Delhi, presently residing at Sangam. Acting on credible leads and after obtaining a legal search warrant, a police party conducted a raid at her rented accommodation.
During the search, police recovered approximately 8.4 grams of Heroin, syringes, aluminium foil paper and stolen property from a specially concealed underground hideout beneath a bed, carefully designed to evade detection.
During preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to supplying narcotics to more than 200 clients and peddlers across the region. She further disclosed that nearly ₹25 lakhs earned through illegal narcotics trade had reportedly been destroyed in a fire incident at her jhuggi last year.
The accused also revealed that her family members were allegedly involved in drug trafficking activities in Kashmir. Acting swiftly on these disclosures, police conducted another raid at Mir Bazar and apprehended one of her sons, Sadam, the spokesman said.
Further investigation is in progress to unearth the entire network and identify all forward and backward linkages.
Meanwhile, police in Anantnag during a joint anti-encroachment drive conducted at Gawran Larnoo, Anantnag Police along with Revenue Department and Forest Department demolished twin illegal shop structures belonging to two notorious drug peddlers, namely Asif Ali Pala son of Ali Mohammad Pala and Nisar Ahmad Kasana son of Bashir Ahmad Kasana, both residents of Mathindoo, Larnoo.
The action was taken after it was established that the said structures had been illegally constructed by encroaching upon forest land at Gawran.
This action forms part of Police’s broader strategy to dismantle the narcotics ecosystem by targeting not only drug peddlers but also the illegal assets and infrastructure created through criminal activities.
Later, in its sustained efforts against the menace of drug trafficking, Police in Anantnag achieved another significant success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering contraband substance from his possession.
A police party of Police Post Sangam, during routine naka checking at Halmulla, intercepted and apprehended one person identified as Arif Ahmad Sheikh son of Mohd Sulaiman Sheikh resident of Delhi, presently residing at Sangam Juggi Tents. During his search, 240 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In this regard, FIR No. 126/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain forward and backward linkages, the spokesman added.
