Srinagar: Police on Thursday attached an immovable property belonging to a terror handler operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), officials said.
The attached property—10 marlas of land valued at approximately Rs 20 lakh—is located at Kehnusa in Bandipora district, they said.
The action was taken in connection with FIR No. 307/2023 registered at Police Station Sopore under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Arms Act and the Explosive Substances Act, police said.
The accused was identified as Majid Ahmad Sofi @ Bisati, son of Ali Mohammad Sofi, a resident of New Colony Sopore. Officials said he is currently operating from Pakistan/PoK as a terror handler affiliated with the banned outfit Hizbul Mujahideen and has been actively involved in orchestrating terror activities in the Kashmir Valley.
The attachment proceedings were carried out by Sopore Police in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, revenue officials and independent witnesses, following due legal procedure, a police spokesperson said.
“Sopore Police remains committed to dismantling the financial, logistical and support networks of terrorist organisations,” the spokesperson said, adding that property attachment is part of a broader strategy to choke terror funding and disrupt the terror ecosystem.
Police said strict action under law will continue against all individuals involved in terrorism, terror financing or providing support to terror outfits. The public has been advised to remain vigilant and stay away from anti-national elements.
