Dear Sir,

Environmental Safeguards Sacrificed for Speed

The Centre relaxing baseline data rules for EIA reports, this move signals a hazardous retreat from ecological accountability. By allowing voluntary use of secondary data via the Parivesh portal the Ministry effectively guts the rigor of primary environmental scrutiny.

Statistics indicate that over 70% of projects already bypass stringent public hearings further diluting data collection invites “ecocide” under the guise of efficiency.

Baseline data is the bedrock of environmental impact assessment replacing fresh field studies with dated repository information is a recipe for disaster.

This administrative shortcut prioritizes corporate expedience over the survival of fragile ecosystems. It is a blatant betrayal of environmental justice and future generation’s safety.
