Police solves burglary case in Baramulla, accused held
Srinagar: Police in Baramulla solved a burglary case reported in the Hanjiwera area and apprehended the accused involved in the offence, a police spokesman said Saturday.
He said that on 10th April 2026, Police received a written complaint from a resident of Khore Sheerabad stating therein that during the intervening night of 05/06 April 2026, unknown persons had broken open the rear window of his shop located at Hanjiwera on NHW and decamped with grocery items, a gas cylinder, and other valuables. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law was registered and investigation was set into motion.
During the course of investigation, the crime scene was examined, site plan prepared, and statements of witnesses were recorded.
Through sustained efforts and focused investigation, a suspect identified as Muzaffar Ahmad Dar of Hanjiwera was rounded up for questioning. During interrogation, he confessed his involvement in the offence and disclosed that the stolen items had been concealed in a tin shed at his residence, the spokesman added.
On his disclosure, police effected recovery of stolen property including a gas cylinder, tea packets, rice, batteries, cutter, wire, and other items. Further investigation in the case is underway, he said.
