Bandipora: An awareness programme under the IEC initiative titled ‘Say No to Drugs’ was organized Thursday at Boys Middle School Kaloosa with the objective of addressing one of the most alarming challenges faced by the younger generation.
The programme was convened by Hilal Ahmad Reshi, Coordinator of IEC programme, along with officials of Municipal Council Bandipora who attended the event to emphasize the urgent need for collective action against the growing menace of drug abuse.
The programme brought together IEC nominated officials including Dr. Aftab Jan, Mr. Arsulan Habib, Dr. Umiesa, and Iqbal Ahmad. The Headmaster of BMS Kaloosa, teaching staff, community workers of Municipal Council Bandipora, and a large number of students actively participated in the programme.
The aim of this awareness session was not limited to delivering speeches but to create a deep understanding among students about the serious consequences of drug addiction and the responsibility of every individual to safeguard the future of society. In recent years, drug abuse has emerged as a silent but devastating threat that is gradually affecting the youth.
Many young individuals fall into addiction due to curiosity, peer pressure, lack of awareness, or emotional stress, and once trapped, it becomes extremely difficult to escape. Such awareness programmes therefore play a crucial role in educating young minds before they become victims of this dangerous cycle.
During the programme, IEC nominated officials addressed the gathering and highlighted the harsh realities associated with drug abuse. They explained that drugs do not only damage the body but also destroy the mind, weaken decision making ability, and push individuals toward a life of isolation and despair.
