Smart e-Bus trial Run begins from Dadsara Tral to Srinagar
Locals seek expansion across South Kashmir
Pulwama: In a significant step towards modernizing public transport and promoting eco-friendly mobility, authorities have commenced a trial run of a Smart Electric Bus service from Dadsara in Tral to Srinagar, drawing appreciation from commuters and locals alike.
The introduction of the e-bus service is being seen as a progressive move aimed at reducing carbon emissions while providing a comfortable and affordable travel alternative for daily commuters traveling between South Kashmir and the summer capital.
Officials associated with the initiative said that the trial run will help assess passenger response, route feasibility, and operational efficiency before the service is formally launched on a regular basis.
The smart buses are equipped with modern amenities, including comfortable seating, low noise levels, and zero tailpipe emissions, making them both commuter-friendly and environmentally sustainable.
Commuters from Tral expressed optimism, stating that the service could significantly ease travel woes, particularly for students, employees, and patients who frequently commute to Srinagar. “If this service continues, it will be a big for us. Travel will become smoother, cheaper, and more reliable,” said a local commuter.
However, while welcoming the initiative, residents from other parts of South Kashmir—including Zainapora and Litter—have urged the authorities to extend similar services to their areas as well.
They highlighted that these regions also witness heavy daily movement of people towards Srinagar for education, healthcare, and employment purposes.
“We appreciate the government’s move, but areas like Zainapora and Litter are equally in need of such transport facilities.
Authorities should ensure that the benefits of smart mobility reach all corners of the region,” said a resident from Zainapora.
Locals further pointed out that the existing transport system in many rural belts remains inconsistent and often overcrowded, forcing passengers to rely on private vehicles or expensive alternatives.
The introduction of e-buses, they believe, could not only streamline transport but also reduce traffic congestion and environmental pollution.
Transport officials have assured that feedback from the trial run will be carefully reviewed, and expansion plans may be considered based on demand and feasibility.
They have sought the attention of higher ups in this regard and demanded immediate intervention in this regard.
