Dear Sir,
The Environmental Cost of Cricket
The spectacle at Chinnaswamy Stadium masks a grim reality. A single match generates over 12 tonnes of waste & emits roughly 16,000 Kg of CO2 a carbon footprint equivalent to thousands of households as per reports.
While bin free policies sound progressive they are failing they don’t stop littering they merely migrate plastic into the lungs of Cubbon Park. The government must stop treating environmental clean-up as a volunteer hobby.
Authorities must mandate Zero Waste protocols for stadium organizers and enforce heavy Polluter Pays taxes on ticket revenue. If the league can generate billions it must be legally forced to invest in a circular waste economy. Entertainment is no excuse for ecological destruction. We need policy not just piousness.
