Tourism works in Tral to be taken up in phases: Govt
Srinagar, Mar 30: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said tourism development works in Tral constituency will be undertaken in a phased manner, depending on availability of funds and other considerations.
Replying to a starred question by MLA Rafiq Ahmad Naik in the Legislative Assembly, the Tourism Department said it remains committed to strengthening tourism infrastructure across the Union Territory, including Tral.
The government said development initiatives are prioritised based on project feasibility, financial resources and environmental considerations, particularly in ecologically fragile mountain regions.
“Tourism development works are taken up in a phased manner in accordance with approved plans and budgetary provisions,” the reply said.
It informed the House that two tourist cafeterias at Faiz Panah and Bajwani in Tral are currently under construction.
The government also said several tourism-related assets in the constituency are being revived under a phased plan.
It added that revival and maintenance of certain facilities have been entrusted to the executing agency, the Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation.
These include eco-log huts and a tourist facilitation centre at Shikargah, aimed at improving visitor amenities in the area.
The department said necessary steps are being taken to strengthen tourism infrastructure and enhance visitor experience in the constituency.
However, it did not specify any fixed timeline for completion of the projects, stating that progress depends on fund availability and execution schedules. (KNS)
