Vande Bharat Express to run via Gurdaspur-Batala from Mar 24
New Delhi, Mar 24 : The Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has revised the route of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar Vande Bharat Express, which will now operate via Gurdaspur and Batala with immediate effect, officials said on Tuesday.
A senior railway official said that the Train Nos. 26406/26405 will run on the revised route instead of via Jalandhar City. The decision has been taken to provide direct connectivity and reduce travel time for passengers between Amritsar and Jammu, while also extending the premium rail service to the border districts of Gurdaspur and Batala.
As per the updated schedule, Train No. 26406 will depart from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra at 6:40 am and arrive in Amritsar at 11:40 am the same day. For the return journey, Train No. 26405 will leave Amritsar at 4:40 pm and reach Katra at 9:45 pm.
Officials confirmed that the train will continue to have scheduled stops at Jammu, Pathankot Cantt, Pathankot, Gurdaspur, and Batala in both directions.
Senior divisional commercial manager Uchit Singhal stated that the decision was aimed at directly benefiting premium-class passengers and making their travel experience more convenient.
In a related development, the division has also revised the halting pattern for Train No. 19223/19224, which will now stop at Pathankot Cantt instead of Pathankot City.
Passengers are advised to check the official Railway website, NTES, or dial 139 for confirmation of schedules and halts before traveling, the official added. (KNS)
