Indian Embassy Moves Students from J&K to Safer City of Qom
Srinagar, Mar 3: The Indian Embassy in Tehran has swung into action, relocating a group of Indian students, including those from Jammu and Kashmir, from the conflict zone to the safer city of Qom.
Official sources confirmed that the diplomatic mission arranged special buses to shift the students as a precautionary measure following the severe deterioration of the security situation, with Tehran being one of the worst-affected cities.
The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA), which is in constant touch with the evacuated youths, confirmed that all Indian nationals are safe. “We are in regular communication with the students. The Embassy has relocated them to Qom. All Indian students in Tehran, including those from Jammu & Kashmir, are safe,” a JKSA spokesperson said.
Authorities indicated that a comprehensive evacuation operation is likely in the coming days. However, the timeline remains fluid, depending on the reopening of Iranian airspace and real-time assessments of the ground situation. (KNS)
