Police seize 10 vehicles, arrest five persons across south Kashmir
Srinagar: Police arrested five persons and seized 10 vehicles involved in illegal transportation of minerals in Datpora, Reshipora areas of Awantipora, Shopian and Kulgam, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, a police party seized five vehicles in Awantipora area. The persons involved in the said crime have been identified as Jahangeer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ayoub resident of Chakoora Pulwama, Nadeem Ahmad Mir son of Abdul khaliq resident of Litter Pulwama, Sajad Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Razaq Dar resident of Reshipora, Ali Mohammad Dar son of Abdul khaliq resident of Reshipora and Zubair Ahmad Mir son of Abdul Khaliq resident of Reshipora.
Police later seized five vehicles in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in Shopian and Kulgam.
During routine patrolling, a police party intercepted a dumper, tractor and JCB engaged in illegal mining activities without valid royalty documents. In this regard FIR No. 25/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Shopian and further investigation has been initiated.
In Kulgam, police seized two vehicles (Tippers) involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals in the Khudwani Qaimoh area of the district Kulgam.
During Naka Checking, a police party from Police station Qaimoh intercepted two Tippers engaged in illegal transportation of mining minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard FIR No. 19/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Qaimoh and further investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
