DDC reviews functioning of Labour Department

KUPWARA: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Kupwara, Anshul Garg Friday chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the functioning of the department.
During the meeting the DDC also reviewed the status of Mission Mode Project (MMP) for registration under Board of Construction Workers Welfare Act (BOCWWA) and Contract Labour Act for the benefit of labourers working with various agencies in the district. The meeting was informed that 38998 Building & Other Construction (BOC) workers have been registered by the Labour department for various benefits which include insurance, children scholarship and chronic disease assistance to dependents. Besides, 2745 workers have also been registered under Mission Mode Project for special benefits.
It was also informed that 62 contractors have been registered under BOC Act and 109 contractors under Labour Act.
The DDC directed the executing agencies to speed up the process of registration of labourers on the online portal of the Labour department for workers welfare and upliftment.
The meeting also informed that Rs.22.42 lakh have been received by the Department as one percent Cess from Beacon and SICIOP agencies during the current fiscal.
The DDC directed the concerned executing agencies to submit their statements of Cess deposits on monthly basis to the Labour department. He also directed them to submit all details of Cess deposits from the year 2015 onwards.
Among others, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Labour Commissioner, District Panchayat Officer, Executive Engineers of R&B, I&FC Kupwara and Handwara and Executive Engineers of PMGSY attended the meeting.
