Police arrests a drug peddler in south Kashmir
Srinagar: Police in a recent action against drug dealings in Awantipora have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said.
He said that police officials at a checkpoint established at village Kawani-Awantipora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03C-3212 with one person on board. He has been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Dar resident of Frisal Kulgam.
During the search police officials were able to recover 02Kgs of poppy straw (grinded fukki) from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station Awantipora, where he remains in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, case FIR No. 116/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and investigation has been initiated, the spokesman added.
