Fire damages residential house in Kangan

GANDERBAL: A residential house was gutted in a pre-dawn fire incident in Baba Mohallah Kullan area of Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
Reports said that fire broke out in the residential House of Mohammad Aslam Baba son of Ghulam Mohuidin Baba resulting in the damage to the house.
An official told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that soon after receiving information a police team along with fire tenders from F&ES station Gund immediately rushed to the area however, the link road leading to the village being enough narrow and dilapidated hindered the team to douse the flames.
Later locals along with police and firemen brought the fire under control however, the rooftop of the house got completely damaged in the incident.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known however police has taken cognizance of the incident, the official added.
Meanwhile, locals held a strong protest to press for their demand of road widening and macadamization of the link road.
They blocked Sgr-Leh highway for hours after which SHO Gund along with revenue officials pacified the protesters peacefully.
