Have informed higher-ups: Director
Anantnag: The contingent paid workers of education department hailing from different areas alleged that the department has been ignoring them as their wages have not been paid since the past two years now.
The workers said that government has not released their salaries since 2018 due to which they are facing very tough times.
“We are working on a meager salary and are hardly getting 100 to 500 per month but we aren’t getting this little amount too on time,” they said.
“We have been working in the department from the last two decades and in many districts CPWs have been regularized but due to unknown reasons we were left out,” they said.
“If CPWs in Srinagar and other parts were regularized why CPWs from Anantnag and other areas were left out,” they said.
“We remain on duty and have given put in charge of various quarantine centres but we are without salaries from the last 3 years now,” they added.
The workers said the delay in release of their salary has pushed them to state of depression particularly the ones who are married and have to support a family.
“Our families are at the verge of starvation, how we can feed our family on a meager salary of Rs 100 to Rs 500,” said a CPW.
“Even this amount is not released on time,” he said, and added that the government should consider the situation of CPWs and announce a hike in the monthly remuneration as well and regularize them.
“Most of the workers are losing hope and even their self-confidence,” they said.
The workers requested the higher authorities of the department to release their pending salaries so that they can heave a sigh of relief.
Director School Education Department, Kashmir Mohammad Yunis said that CPWS are not under any pay roll, however they were getting little amount from the school grants.
He said that there is a government order to categorize them based on their qualifications.
“This is human issue and we have written to higher ups to resolve their issues once for all, he said, adding that he was hopeful that the issue will be solved very soon.
