Kulgam Encounter: Another militant killed, toll reaches 02
Srinagar, July 04: One more militant has been killed in ongoing operation taking the toll to 02 in Arrah area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Official sources said that in an ongoing firefight one more militant has been killed. Two militants have been killed so far. However, their identity is yet to be ascertained.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar told that the operation was halted for few hours as we brought the second militant’s family to the encounter site, so that his family could persuade him to surrender.
However, the trapped militant refused to surrender, the IGP added.
Meanwhile, during initial exchange of firing one militant was killed and three army soldiers including JCO was injured.
Pertinently, 122 militants have been killed so far this year in the Valley.
Earlier, according to the reports reaching, a joint team of Police, Army’s 34RR and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Arrah village.
As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.(GNS)
