Say that they have not received salary for past 14 months

Pulwama: Regularized Rehbar-e-Taleem Grade-lll teachers in Jammu and Kashmir are going through tough times as authorities have failed to release their salaries since the past 14 months now.
“We are going through tough times given the delay in release of our salary and this has subject us to psychological torture,” said a Grade-lll RReT teacher.
“Teachers are forced to hit streets due to the wrong policies of government as every year we are subjected to mental torture due to the delay in release of our salaries,” he added.
Notably, the situation has turned worse for these teachers owing to the lockdon imposed to fight the deadly COVID-19.
“We have been on the receiving end as we have not received a single penny from the last 14 months due to which we have been reduced to penury,” said another teacher, wishing not to be identified.
“Non-payment of salaries for 14 month is taking a heavy toll on us as we were already grappling with many problems,” the teacher added.
Pertinently, in July last year SAC had approved creation of 7643 posts of teachers Grade-lll for under graduate RReTs .
Moreover, the ReT scheme was started in year 2000 in J&K with an aim at making up the staff deficiency in primary and middle schools.
A person recruited as a teaching guide under the scheme was drawn from the community in which the school was located.
Under this scheme, he or she was paid Rs 1,500 per month for the first two years and Rs 2,000 per month (Rs 3,000 from 2010 onwards) for the next three years. After five years, the teacher would be regularised and paid a salary equal to that of a normal government teacher.
