No shortage of protective gear in Bandipora: CMO

BANDIPORA: The District Administration, Bandipora strongly refuted the news report claiming shortage of protective gear for frontline workers handling COVID19 cases, here Monday.
Chief Medical Officer, Bandipora, Dr Tajamul Hussain, said that the district administration and department of Health is providing adequate number of protective gears and other logistics including testing logistics for the frontline workers and the same are being provided to them as per the guidelines.
Contradicting the news report, Dr Tajamul, said there is no doctor in the district by the name Asiya as mentioned in the news report thus amply proving that the news report is concocted and baseless.
Giving details, CMO Bandipora said that there are 31 dedicated screening teams of Health experts in 12 Red zones of Hajin, Naidkhai, Gund Jahangeer, SK Bala, Batagund, Chandeergeer, madwan, Hakbara, Kunan, Gund Qaiser, Gund Dachina, Nowgam and Bonakoot and the Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) are being provided to them strictly as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Health.
He said there is no shortage of PPEs in the district and adequate quantity of PPEs has been procured by the district authorities besides receiving PPEs from several NGO’s. He said that as the paramedics of other health institutions do not require PPEs, all the basic protective gear including surgical masks, gloves and aprons are being provided to them.
Dr Tajamul said that out of the 48969 population of 12 red zones of the district 25821 persons have been screened so far. He added that the Rapid Response Teams are working tirelessly round the clock to conduct survey and lift suspects and contacts of positive cases for testing.
CMO termed the news item mischievous intended to discourage the medical staff, who are on the frontline in battle against COVID19.
Dr Tajamul urged the people not to heed the un-official sources and asked the media persons to act responsibly, in the current situation, when the whole nation is fighting a battle against an invisible enemy.
