Sense and sensibility

(Eijaz Mir)
It is a common proverb by a famous socialist Rosseau that, “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
On one hand the whole globe is combating covid19, leaving no stone unturned to fight this deadly virus, a complete war against it has started in the four corners of the world. And on the other hand, some of the inhabitants living on this planet are proving very detrimental for the survival of humanity and peace.
The worst form of material aspect has over shadowed the character of human, led to the assassination of human values, and above all the greediness of human power has deteriorated human values on this planet. The growth in power is proving very fatal in humans and in other words the power among humans on the earth is being utilised in disastrous form, leading to violence and imbalance in social set up.
The power of one human over other in the form of race, sect, caste, creed, religion, etc. has overshadowed us very chiefly. The human ethics and values have been shaken terribly and rattled immensely by so called contractors of humanity. The pure form of human sense prevails nowhere, the morality is breathing its last breath.
The pioneer of humanity has turned into powerhouse of awful wilderness where humans have no worth and no values. Media plays an important role based on the benefits, rationale of humans and ethics. Media plays a vital and indefatigable role to improve the values and ethics of humanity in the country. In others words it is only media which lift its nation on the heights of unfold success by highlighting the truest sense of human values and fissure out unethical obstacles.
Its ethics act as a lifeline between truth and falsehood, between good and bad, between humane and inhumane and its ethics always favour legitimate over illegitimate, providing a sense of secular vision to its people and it should be always there.
Our country India is the largest democracy in the world. It is a proud and power of our country, secular in nature, multilingual and cultural diversity. The country has second highest population in the world after China. So it is a great challenge to our media to balance the system of the country in such an instance where nobody falls prey to his sentiments, emotions and feelings.
The growing power of media in our country is not less than other developed countries of the world. Its subscribers are in millions and billions and its coverage reached overseas. It is an autonomous body governed by moral ethics.
The ethics of media, if snatched from its truthfulness can prove very fatal and disastrous for the country like India. It could cost us very badly because our country is vast, comprehensive in all dimensions whether of sects, castes or religion etc.
The cultural diversity in all forms could not stand up if media loses its basic ethics and principles. The power of media is its nature of truth and sense of its autonomous character based on real bounties of ethics. But it is very unfortunate to observe that our media is lacking basic values and ethics of being legitimate media.
Something is not favouring them where it seems that the common people are lacking trust on them. While the whole world is combating COVID19, our media is combating human values and principles. The common masses are suffering in terms of getting assassinate of emotions and sentiments.
Some religious sentiments are being hurt badly; the people have been divided in the name of sects and races. They are being divided in the name of religion. Some false facts and figures are misleading the common masses. The tension has risen up by the violation of media ethics in the country day by day and is very detrimental for the foundation of peace and security.
For some time now the media of our country seems inefficient, prevailing insecurity to the people living in the democratic country like India. The major role of media is to provide a sense of relief to its people in the form of facts and to let raise the voice of common masses to reach the heights of peace and justice.
But contrary of this, they are adding fuel to the fire. Our media is not playing a sensible role, right now when the planet is burning due to covid19 crises and our media is playing the game of magical truths and predictions. They are flying in the world of imagination. If media mishandles, it will reveal bad over good.
The illegitimate media is the back bone of our country, and needs to lead it’s foundation on basic ethics. At present it is the ultimate role of media to unite the whole nation irrespective of caste, colour or sect or religion. The crises of covid19 have put the world on fire, India needs to unite its youth and technology to combat this deadly virus and media could do so.
The media need to refrain from pointing out any particular sect for spreading this deadly virus in the country, it knows no sect or religion, no boundaries, as it could make prey any human irrespective of any form, blaming anybody gives no sound justification.
How could we blame anyone and spread hate in the nation whose principles are based on Democracy and Secularism. Occupying this sort of mentality, the country is suffering a severe drawback and our democratic rank has taken a setback. The whole world is blaming us for no reasons. The main reason is our media which is lacking its ethics day by day. The facts presented by them are suffering from severe drawbacks, giving untrue and undesirable results. Let media speak, unfold truth and recognise ethics of their professional work.
Neither am I favouring any sect, religion or politics. Nor am I spreading any hate. But I am sensing my vision of the insecurity which humanity is facing day by day in the country. It is the role of media to overcome all issues and let sense prevail based on facts, based on desirable research and results be presented before the country.
The violation of media ethics could lead us to the division, which could affect badly country’s secularism and pluralism. It should separate itself from the chains of racism. Let the world know our diversity and secularism. The media is the most important element through which a nation is bound to unite. If media plays positive and legitimate role, our country will lead, and will win the war against this deadly virus covid19, if not so, then I fear the sense of defeat against it, and insecurity to the nation forever.
Let us hope our media shall not violate its ethics and will work on professional principles and legitimate senses.
