Ramban mishap: Body of Tavera driver recovered

Ramban, March 06: Police on Friday retrieved the body of a Tavera driver from Chenab, a day after the vehicle plunged into the fast-flowing river in Ramban district of Jammu.
Inspector General of Traffic Police, T Namgayal said that one body was recovered so far during the search operation which is going on. “besides driver, only one passenger was travelling in the ill-fated Taveera. He said that the driver has been identified as Irshad Ahmad from Banderpora Bijbehara, Anantnag,” IGP said, adding that the another dead body that has also been retrieved is identified as that of Mushtaq Ahmad Nanda son of Manzoor Ahmad of KP Road Anantnag. “There may be only two causalities,” he said.
Sources said that the vehicle has been retrieved from the water body and searches are still going on to retrieve any other dead body. However, they said that it was not confirmed if more people had boarded the vehicle on way to Jammu. Sources said that rescuers comprising quick response teams and police besides locals also found an Identity card of one Suresh Kumar son of Tilak Raj of Pathankote. It was after 17 hours that the vehicle was pulled out from the river, they added. (GNS)
