Air strikes in Pakistan done due to political reasons claims Farooq Abdullah
Srinagar: Former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that the aerial strikes done in Pakistan were perpetrated as elections are approaching and an aircraft worth crores was lost in action.
“We always knew that there would be a fight or a skirmish with Pakistan. This surgical strike (airstrike) was done as elections are approaching. We lost an aircraft worth crores,” Abdullah told a news gathering agency.
” Be thankful that the pilot (IAF) survived & returned from Pakistan with respect.”
On holding of Lok Sabha elections only in the state of J&K he said that local body polls were held peacefully and there are enough forces present.
“Why can’t state elections be held?,” he questioned.
“All parties are in favour of holding simultaneous (LS & state assembly) polls. Environment is conducive for Lok Sabha polls but not state polls in J&K? ,” Abdullah was quoted of saying.
