Shortage of doctors at MCH hospital Sopore irks patients
Sopore: The patients as well as their attendants are being forced to face hardships in absence of doctors at ‘Mothers’ and Child Hospital’ in Sopore town.
Amid chilly weather, conditions, the people in Sopore are suffering due to lack of proper facilities like absence of electricity, water, transport facility, roads and other services.
“Almost 200 patients were forced to wait in a queue for their turn to get treated in the hospital as only one doctor was available in the hospital since morning for these 200 maternity patients,” sources said.
Firdous Ahmad Mir, an attendant of the patient who had come from Rafiabad for routine checkup of his wife said that only one doctor was available there, thereby leaving the patients to lurch at large.
This maternity hospital caters to the rush of maternity patients of three districts, therefore adequate number of doctors must be made available here so that the patients will not suffer, the attendants said
They later appealed Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Sopore to look into the matter and ensure adequate numbers of doctors are available at the hospital.
BMO Sopore Dr. Samiullah told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that two gynecologists who are NRHM appointee are currently on strike due to which only one gynecologist was available today in the hospital.
