Anti-encroachment drive in J-K’s Ramban retrieves land worth Rs 2.5 crore
Jammu, Jul 19 (PTI) As part of the 100-day ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir’ campaign, authorities in Ramban district on Sunday retrieved nearly five acres of land worth over Rs 2.5 crore after a large-scale anti-encroachment drive, officials said.
Ramban Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta supervised the drive conducted in coordination with police, revenue and forest departments, an official spokesman said.
During the exercise, the district administration retrieved more than 18 kanals of state land and 16.4 kanals of forest land illegally occupied by drug peddlers, he said.
Reclaiming government land from persons involved in drug peddling is aimed at dismantling illegal networks, safeguarding government property and upholding the rule of law, the spokesman said.
The administration said its drive against drugs and encroachments will be intensified, warning of strict legal action against drug peddlers and illegal occupants of government land.
It also urged the public to report such activities to help build a drug-free, law-abiding society.
