Police arrests two drug peddlers in Sopore and Shopian
Srinagar: Police on Friday arrested two drug peddlers in Sopore and Shopian areas, a police spokesman said.
He said that police apprehended a drug peddler during patrolling in Bus Stand Sopore.
During patrolling at Neharpora, Sopore, a suspicious individual was intercepted and subjected to personal search. During the search, psychotropic substance was recovered from his possession and seized in accordance with due legal procedure. The accused has been identified as Abid Fayaz Shah, son of Fayaz Ahmad Shah, resident of Neharpora Bagh Ali Street Sopore. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 174/2026 under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider network involved, he added.
The spokesman said that during routine naka checking at Naghard Crossing, a police party from Police Post Wachi noticed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully intercepted him. During his personal search, approximately 120 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Yasir Altaf Allie son of Altaf Ahmad Allie resident of Melhura Zainapora. Accordingly, FIR No. 91/2026 under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and investigation has been taken up to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the larger drug network involved, he added.
