Dear Sir,
Reservoir crisis: A policy Failure
The Central Water Commissions latest bulletin exposes a terrifying reality masked by bureaucratic complacency. Holding a pathetic 26% of live storage capacity across 166 major reservoirs during an active monsoon is an absolute failure of climate resilience.
Averaging statistics is a deceptive luxury, a 1.4% drop from normal wilfully hides the grim fact that 66% of Indian districts face crippling rainfall deficits. With crucial reservoirs in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra hitting 0% capacity and Karnataka sitting 46% below normal an agricultural and drinking water catastrophe is imminent. Stop hiding behind erratic monsoon timelines. This nationwide depletion demands aggressive structural overhaul not passive reliance on failing weather patterns.
