Police arrests drug peddler in Handwara
Srinagar: Police in Handwara arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that police achieved another significant success by apprehending a drug peddler during a high-alert naka operation at Shogpora Magam Handwara.
Acting vigilantly during routine checking, a police team at Magam intercepted and apprehended a suspicious person. During his personal search, officers recovered Ganja like substance from his possession, exposing his involvement in illegal narcotics trafficking. The accused has been identified as Firdous Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Magam.
In this regard, FIR No. 178/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/20) has been registered at Police Station Handwara, and investigation has been set into motion to unearth further links in the narcotics network, the spokesman added.
