Police dismiss rumours of Army personnel injured at Asha Post, warn of strict action
Baramulla, June 27: Police on Saturday dismissed as false reports circulating on social media claiming that Army personnel were injured at Asha Post in the Gulmarg sector and warned of strict action against those spreading misinformation.
A police spokesperson clarified that no Army personnel had sustained any injuries at Asha Post and said the information being circulated had no factual basis.
“The information is completely false, baseless and devoid of any factual basis. No Army personnel have sustained any injuries at Asha Post,” he said.
Police said the circulation of inaccurate and unverified information has the potential to create unnecessary panic, mislead the public and adversely affect public order. It appealed to citizens to rely only on information shared through official channels.
Police further said it had taken cognizance of the matter and warned that anyone found creating or disseminating false information with the intention of misleading the public or disturbing peace would face strict action under the relevant provisions of law. Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and transparency, the police said it would continue to disseminate accurate and timely information in the interest of public order and law enforcement.
