Police arrests two drug peddlers in Ganderbal, one in Handwara
Srinagar: Police on Saturday arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Handwara areas, a police spokesman said here.
He said that a police party at Safapora during routine naka checking at Puttarmulla Safapora near Daller Mode, Manasbal intercepted and apprehended a suspicious person. He was identified as Salim Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat resident of Kondbal Safapora.
During his personal search, approximately 04 grams of heroin-like substance and 20 grams of charas-like substance were recovered from his possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 11/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Safapora, and further investigation is underway.
In another such action, police at Kheerbhawani, during naka checking at Nagpow, Tulmullah intercepted and apprehended a suspicious person. During his personal search, approximately 11.10 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Aubaid Ahmad Dar @ Ubi son of Habibullah Dar resident of Nowpora, Tulmullah. In this regard, FIR No. 16/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kheerbhawani, and further investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, police arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police team at Zachaldara during a high-alert naka operation at Turkpora Zachaldara area intercepted and apprehended a suspicious individual. During his personal search, officers recovered Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus contraband substance from his possession. The accused has been identified as Dawood Ahmad Dar resident of Herpora Handwara.
In this regard, FIR No. 115/2026 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Handwara, and investigation has been set into motion to unearth further links in the narcotics network, the spokesman said.
He said that police remains firmly committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and continues to intensify sustained operations across the district to dismantle the drug ecosystem.
