Dear Sir,
Stop Prescribing Liquid Toddler Poison
The Health Ministry’s move to ban cough syrups and gripe water for children under two is a vital strike against iatrogenic harm.
For years parents have unknowingly administered remedies that offer zero therapeutic efficacies for infants while carrying lethal risks. Statistics from the 2025 contamination crisis reveal that toxic impurities like diethylene glycol cause rapid acute renal failure in small bodies.
Furthermore cough is a protective physiological reflex suppressing it with sedatives can lead to respiratory depression. One must replace these hazardous bottles with evidence based care saline nasal drops & hydration. It is time to prioritize paediatric safety over the convenience of a quiet but endangered child.
