Police arrests drug peddlers in Pulwama, Sopore
Srinagar: Police on Monday arrested a suspected drug peddler and recovered 392 grams of contraband substance in Pulwama. In another such exercise another drug peddler was held in north Kashmir’s Sopore area, a police spokesman said.
The accused, Vikas Ahmad Lone, was apprehended at a checkpoint established at Circular Road near Gangoo Crossing in Pulwama, police said.
“Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Pulwama have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession,” the police spokesperson said.
“During his body search, charas, a chora-like substance weighing approximately 392 grams, concealed in a polythene bag, was recovered from his possession,” he said.
The spokesman said a case under relevant sections of law was registered.
Meanwhile, police in Sopore arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party during naka checking at Wagub Crossing intercepted a suspicious person. During checking, Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Panzipora Tarzoo. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 49/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved, the spokesman added.
