Police arrests two drug peddlers
Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers in Shopian and Sopore and recovered contraband, psychotropic substances from their possession, a police spokesman said Wednesday.
He said that in Shopian, a police team at a checkpoint established at Imamsahib Chowk, noticed a person in suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. During the search, a Heroine-like substance weighing approximately 6.20 grams was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Adil Ahmad Makroo resident of Khudwani Rehpora Kulgam.
In Sopore, during patrolling at Neharpora–Shalimar Link Road, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. During search, Charas-like substance and Codeine Phosphate bottles were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Irfan Majeed Shah son of Abdul Majeed Shah resident of Neharpora Sopore, the spokesman added.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved, he said.
