Avalanche hits near Zojila pass, several vehicles trapped
Srinagar, Mar 27: A massive snow avalanche struck near Zero Point on the Zojila Pass on Friday, trapping several passenger vehicles under snow and debris, officials said.
The avalanche occurred in the afternoon, blocking the strategic highway that connects the Kashmir valley with Ladakh. Official sources said three to four vehicles were caught in the snow slide.
No loss of life or injuries have been reported so far, bringing relief to authorities and commuters, they said.
Officials said the road was blocked following the incident, and rescue and clearance operations were launched to remove the debris and restore traffic movement on the road.
