Illegal Mining: Police seizes five vehicles in Ganderbal, Pulwama
Srinagar: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police have seized five vehicles in Ganderbal and Pulwama, a police spokesman said Thursday.
He said that in Ganderbal, three tippers were seized for illegal extraction of minor minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Ganderbal, PS Kheerbawani & PS Lar. These vehicles were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms.
Accordingly, the vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.
Meanwhile in Pulwama, Police seized two tractors without registration number plates found engaged in unauthorized extraction of minerals at Romshi Nallah, Rahmoo. In this regard, a case FIR No. 39/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora, and further investigation has been taken up, the spokesman added.
