Cop suspended after drunken driving incident in Baramulla
Baramulla, Mar 15: A Head Constable was placed under suspension after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a checkpoint barrier while driving in an inebriated condition in the Sheeri area here, police said on Sunday.
The accused officer, identified as Javid Ahmad (EXK-011664), who is currently posted in Uri, was driving an Alto car (JK12D-8187) on the night of 13 March. He lost control of the vehicle and collided with the security barrier at the Sheeri Naka check post. No injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.
A police spokesperson said that a departmental inquiry has been ordered into the matter.
“Taking serious note of the misconduct and violation of discipline, the official has been placed under suspension with immediate effect,” the spokesperson said, reaffirming the commitment of Baramulla Police to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and accountability within the force.
