Cabinet to meet as budget session begins, Lt Guv to address house
Srinagar, Feb 2: The Jammu & Kashmir cabinet is set to meet today afternoon to discuss the 2026–27 budget ahead of its presentation in the Union Territory’s Assembly.
Sources said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will chair a meeting of the Council of Ministers at his official residence in Jammu to discuss the 2026–27 budget.
“The cabinet will give its nod to the budget proposals before the financial plan is unveiled in the Assembly,” they said.
Meanwhile, the budget session of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly will begin today with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha’s address to the House.
The LG will address the members of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly in the Assembly complex at 10:00 AM. This will be his third address to the House since the formation of the elected government in J&K.
The Legislative Assembly Secretariat has called for maintaining utmost decency and decorum during the LG’s address.
“The Lieutenant Governor’s address is a most solemn and formal act and must be heard with attention and respect, while maintaining utmost dignity, decency, and decorum,” reads a bulletin issued by the Assembly Secretariat.
