MLA Sopore lays foundation for key flood control crossing in Sopore

Project to Include Ningli Bala and Aak Bab Bridges

Sopore: In a significant step towards improving rural infrastructure and mitigating flood risks, Irshad Rasool Kar, the Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) for the Sopore Constituency, Saturday laid the foundation stone for the construction of a crucial nallah crossing over the Ningli Nallah at Village Ningli Bala. The project, estimated to cost around ₹50 lakh, will also include the completion of the Aak Bab Bridge in Amberpora.
This vital infrastructure initiative is being executed by the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Division, Sopore. It is designed to ensure safe passage, prevent waterlogging, and enhance flood control measures in the area, thereby safeguarding local agricultural land and residences.
Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony, MLA Irshad Rasool Kar emphasized his commitment to addressing the infrastructural and developmental needs of the constituency.
“This project is essential for the connectivity and safety of the residents of Ningli Bala. It will not only facilitate the smooth movement of people and farm produce but also provide crucial protection from seasonal flood threats,” he said.

The MLA was accompanied by officials from the I&FC Department, who will oversee the project’s implementation. Those present included Altaf Hussain Gilani, Executive Engineer of the I&FC Division Sopore, and Rameez Ayoub Wani, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Flood Control Sub-Division Sopore.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, expressing that the new nallah crossing will resolve long-standing issues related to mobility and water management, particularly during the rainy season.
