Police arrests two drug peddlers in Ganderbal

Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession, a police spokesman said Tuesday.
He said that a police team at a checkpoint established at Central University, Tullamulla Road, intercepted a vehicle (Maruti-800) bearing registration No. JK01U-3866 with two persons on board.
They were identified as Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Muzaffar Bhat, both residents of Batwina, Ganderbal. During search, Heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 41/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kheerbhawani, and investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the contraband, the spokesman added.
