Srinagar: The Jammu & Kashmir Fruits & Vegetable Processing & Integrated Cold Chain Association (JKPICCA) on Monday successfully conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM), bringing together members from across the Union Territory to review sectoral progress and chart future strategies for the horticulture and cold chain ecosystem.
The hybrid-mode meeting saw robust participation, with members joining both physically and virtually, reflecting the Association’s emphasis on inclusive and collaborative decision-making.
Key issues discussed during the session included advancements in fruit and vegetable processing, strengthening of integrated cold chain infrastructure, adoption of modern technologies, policy improvements, and measures to enhance the horticulture value chain.
Members approved several important resolutions aimed at improving efficiency, sustainability, and market competitiveness in Jammu & Kashmir’s rapidly evolving horticulture sector.
The Association expressed deep appreciation for the visionary leadership guiding J&K’s agricultural transformation. Special acknowledgment was extended to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha for formulating the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP) and for establishing the Mangla Rai Committee—widely regarded as a watershed step that laid a scientific roadmap for sector-wide reforms.
JKPICCA also praised the strategic leadership of Chief Secretary Atal Dullo for ensuring coordinated and time-bound implementation of HADP across agriculture, horticulture, and allied sectors. The contributions of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Agriculture Minister Javed Dar, and Additional Chief Secretary Shailendra Kumar were also recognized for their efforts in strengthening the horticulture economy.
Highlighting the sector’s progress, the Association noted that initiatives such as high-density apple plantations, modern cold storage facilities, scientific orchard management practices, and global technology integration have transformed J&K’s fruit industry into a modern, innovation-driven enterprise capable of year-round production and better market access.
Concluding the meeting, JKPICCA extended a vote of thanks to the executive committee, office bearers, members, and the technical support team for ensuring a smooth and productive AGM. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to driving further growth and strengthening the horticulture and integrated cold chain ecosystem in the years ahead.
