Pulwama: In a significant development for the youth of Narastan Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, the Revenue Department has identified a piece of land for the establishment of a long-pending sports ground in the area.
The decision has sparked widespread happiness among local athletes and young residents, who had been demanding such a facility for years.
According to officials, the land demarcation was completed earlier this week after a detailed survey by revenue authorities. The proposed site is expected to cater to multiple sports and recreational activities, bringing a major boost to the region’s sports infrastructure.
Local sportspersons said that the absence of a proper playground for training and events had long hindered their progress.
“For years, we have been practicing in open patches or on uneven fields. A proper sports ground has been our biggest demand,” said Adil Ahmad, a budding cricketer from Narastan. “Now that the land has finally been identified, we feel hopeful that our talent will get the platform it deserves.”
Another young athlete, Izhan Ahmad, who represents the area in volleyball at district level, expressed excitement over the development.
“This is a dream come true for the boys here. A safe and dedicated space for sports will encourage more young athletes to participate,” she said.
Local youth groups also thanked the administration for moving the long-pending demand forward, saying it would help channel the energy of young people toward healthy activities.
“A sports ground is not just about games. It keeps youth away from negative influences and builds community spirit,” said Umar Nabi, a football enthusiast. “We hope the government now speeds up the next steps so the work begins as early as possible.”
Residents urged the authorities to ensure timely completion of further formalities so that construction can commence without delay.
The establishment of the sports ground is expected to benefit hundreds of young players in Narastan and nearby localities, marking an important step toward promoting sports culture in the region.
