BJP commemorates birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda

Srinagar: BJP Kashmir unit paid rich tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary, holding commemorative events across Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora. The observance highlighted the party’s respect for a legendary tribal freedom fighter whose struggle for dignity, land rights, and social reform continues to inspire generations.
Birsa Munda, born on November 15, 1875, remains a towering figure in India’s tribal history a revolutionary leader, spiritual guide, and social reformer whose movement awakened Adivasi consciousness and challenged oppressive colonial systems.
During the events in North Kashmir, party leaders, workers, and members of tribal communities gathered to honour his legacy. Floral tributes and discussions on tribal rights formed key elements of the programme.
BJP District Presidents Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipora hailed Bhagwan Birsa Munda as a symbol of tribal pride, unity, and resistance. They noted that the challenges he confronted land alienation, injustice, and exploitation still resonate with ongoing developmental goals for tribal communities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Choudhary Roshan Hussain, BJP tribal leader at Bandipora, addressed the gathering and reaffirmed the party’s dedication to the welfare of tribal groups in the region. He highlighted the government’s ongoing initiatives in education, health, connectivity, and livelihood support for Gujjar Bakerwal and other tribal communities.
BJP Spokesperson J&K, Choudhary Tahir said in Baramulla, Our commitment is to ensure that every tribal household feels empowered, protected, and included in the nation’s progress,” he said, emphasising the importance of safeguarding land rights and preserving cultural identity.
Choudhary Abdul Ganie, Tribal Leader at Kupwara, said that “Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s life teaches us that the fight for justice is not just historical it is ongoing. His courage in uniting tribal people to challenge injustice must inspire our present day commitment to tribal dignity and empowerment.
He added that the government’s policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have brought unprecedented attention to tribal welfare, including scholarships, mobile schools for nomadic communities, and forest rights initiatives.
BJP Tribal leaders called upon the youth to draw inspiration from Birsa Munda’s unyielding spirit and to participate actively in the socio-economic upliftment of their communities.
The commemorative events concluded with a pledge to continue working towards the empowerment of tribal populations across Jammu and Kashmir, honouring the values that Bhagwan Birsa Munda lived and sacrificed for.
