Terror module busted as two medicos, five others held
Over 360 kg of explosives, weapons recovered
Faridabad (Haryana)/Srinagar: A Kashmiri doctor has been arrested here with around 360 kg of inflammable material suspected to be ammonium nitrate and a huge cache of arms and ammunition recovered from his rented accommodation, police said on Monday.
During a joint operation by a team of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir police, the accused Muzammil, a teacher at Al Falah University, was arrested, they said.
Al Falah University in Haryana’s Dhouj, around 45 km from Delhi, is privately run and recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC).
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said anyone found guilty will not be spared.
Addressing a press conference here, Faridabad Police Commissioner Satender Kumar Gupta said the doctor was also wanted in connection with putting up posters supporting terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed in Srinagar.
He clarified that the 360 kg of inflammable material seized from the accused during raids on Sunday night is not RDX but is suspected to be ammonium nitrate.
The commissioner further said some other material which can be used in terror activities, like 20 timers, four timers with batteries, 5 kg heavy metal, a walkie-talkie set, batteries and an assault rifle with three magazines were also recovered.
Additionally, 83 live rounds, a pistol with eight live rounds, two empty cartridges and two additional magazines were seized from him, he added.
Eight big suitcases, four small suitcases and a bucket were also recovered from the accused’s room in the Dhauj area here, he said.
Two arrests have so far been made in this module, Gupta said, adding that the other arrest was made by Jammu and Kashmir police from Saharanpur.
“During a joint operation of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir Police, that has been ongoing over the last 15 days, teams conducted raids and arrested Dr Muzammil. Raids were conducted on Sunday during which 360 kg inflammable material, suspected to be ammonium nitrate, was seized,” he said.
The police commissioner also said that the accused was a teacher at Al Falah University.
Asked where the accused intended to carry out the terror act, Gupta said, “The investigations are on.” “Keeping in view national security, there are many details about this module, and it is not appropriate to share them at the moment,” he said.
“According to investigations so far, an accused has been arrested from Saharanpur,” he added.
“Two arrests have been made so far, one is Dr Muzammil, while another person was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police from Saharanpur,” he said.
When asked to comment on arrest of Dr Muzammil from Faridabad, Saini, who was interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of an event in Gurugram, said, “Investigations are going on. Anyone found involved will not be spared.”
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir police said that it busted an interstate and transnational terror module by arresting seven persons, including two doctors and recovering 2,900 kg explosives, arms and ammunition.
In a statement issued here, a police spokesperson said that the module is linked with proscribed terrorist organizations, Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH).
The statement said that the operation has led to the arrest of key operatives and recovery of a massive cache of arms, ammunition and explosives, during coordinated searches in J&K and other states.
“On 19.10.2025, multiple JeM posters were found pasted at different locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar threatening and intimidating Police and Security Forces. Accordingly, FIR No. 162/2025 U/S 13,16, 17, 18. 18-B, 19, 20, 23, 39 &40 of the APA Act, section 61(2), 147, 148, 152, 351(2) BNS, section 4/5 Explosive Substance Act and 7/25/27 Arms Act was registered, at Police Station Nowgam, Srinagar and investigation taken up,” the statement added.
It said that the investigation has revealed a white collar terror ecosystem, involving radicalized professionals and students in contact with foreign handlers, operating from Pakistan and other countries.
“The group has been using encrypted channels, for indoctrination, coordination, fund movement and logistics. Funds were raised through professional and academic networks, under the guise of social/charitable causes. The accused were found involved in identifying persons, to radicalise, initiate and recruit them to terrorist ranks, besides raising funds, arranging logistics, procurement of arms/ammunition and material for preparing IEDs,” it said.
It added that during the course of investigation, accused including Arif Nisar Dar @ Sahil r/o Nowgam, Srinagar, Yasir-ul-Ashraf r/o Nowgam, Srinagar, Maqsood Ahmad Dar @ Shahid r/o Nowgam, Srinagar, Molvi Irfan Ahmad (Imam of Masjid) r/o Shopian, Zameer Ahmad Ahanger @ Mutlasha, r/o Wakura Ganderbal, Dr Muzammil Ahmad Ganaie @ Musaib r/o Koil, Pulwama and Dr Adeel r/o Wanpora, Kulgam, were arrested.
“Besides, the role of a few more individuals has surfaced who will be traced and apprehended. During the ongoing investigation, searches were conducted at multiple locations, by J&K Police, in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian. Similarly, J&K Police, also, conducted searches at Faridabad, in tandem with Haryana Police and at Saharanpur, with UP Police,” the statement added.
It added that the investigation, so far, has led to the recovery of incriminating documents, electronic devices, arms/ammunition and IED making material.
“Recoveries include a Chinese star pistol (along with ammunition), a Beretta pistol (along with ammunition), one AK 56 Rifle (along with ammunition), one AK Krinkov Rifle (along with ammunition), 2900 KG of IED making material (including explosives, chemicals, reagents, inflammable material, electronic circuits, batteries, wires, remote control, timers and metal sheets etc. Financial investigation, regarding flow of funds, is on and all linkages are being traced and addressed expeditiously,” the statement said.
