Police brings ‘warmth and care’ to needy families, under civic action programme
Sopore: In a heart-warming display of community outreach, police on Tuesday distributed essential items among deserving and underprivileged families as part of the Civic Action Programme (CAP) of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
The event was aimed at extending compassionate support to economically weaker sections and fostering a stronger bond between law enforcement and the community it serves, a police spokesman said.
A wide range of items, which including sewing machines, wheelchairs, blankets, heaters, and school bags equipped with books and stationery were distributed to beneficiaries hailing from different areas under all police stations of the Sopore district. The distribution drive was held to provide meaningful assistance ahead of the approaching winter season, ensuring that families in need receive timely help and encouragement.
Speaking on the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Iftkhar Talib, emphasized the humanitarian spirit behind the initiative.
“This initiative reflects our continued resolve to stand with the people we serve not only in law enforcement but also in care, inclusion, and social welfare. Effective policing begins with compassion and trust, and through such civic programmes, we aim to reinforce both,” the SSP said.
The event was attended by senior officers of the Police District Sopore, including the Additional SP Sopore, SDPOs, DySP DAR, DySP Ops, and SHOs, who collectively appreciated the initiative’s impact in building mutual trust and community partnership.
The recipients expressed heartfelt gratitude to police for their considerate gesture, noting that such programmes bring real relief and strengthen the emotional connection between the police and the local populace.
Concluding the event, police reaffirmed their commitment to continue such outreach and welfare initiatives in the future under the Civic Action Programme — nurturing a relationship of empathy, trust, and shared responsibility between the force and the people.
