Community welfare & awareness activities mark day-3 of Sewa Parv at Pulwama
PULWAMA: The third day of the ongoing fortnight-long Sewa Parv celebrations in Pulwama was marked by a wide range of community welfare and awareness activities organised by various departments and institutions across the district.
The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation of schools, colleges, municipal bodies, Rural Development, Health, Social Welfare, Forest and Social Forestry departments, reflecting a strong spirit of collective service and public engagement.
Educational institutions carried forward the campaign by organising anti-drug rallies, poster-making and essay-writing competitions, and disaster management drills. As part of the education-focused initiative ‘Volunteering in Schools for Special Classes,’ special classes were conducted to support learning outcomes, while donation drives for books, stationery, and clothes for underprivileged students were also held, promoting compassion and inclusivity.
Municipal Council Pulwama, along with other municipalities, undertook major sanitation drives, including cleanliness campaigns in public spaces, springs, markets, bus stands, and riverbanks. Door-to-door campaigns on solid waste management were carried out to spread awareness at the grassroots level. Municipal bodies also held awareness programmes on flagship schemes like PM SVANidhi and PMAY 2.0, encouraging people to avail benefits of government initiatives.
Rural Development department organised cleanliness drives in panchayats and public institutions, mobilising local communities for sustainable sanitation practices.
Furthermore, under the Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan, women-focused health initiatives were held across the district. Special screening camps, maternal and child healthcare awareness sessions, and counselling programmes were organised at Community Health Centres (CHCs), Primary Health Centres (PHCs), and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Doctors and paramedical staff provided preventive and curative services to a large number of beneficiaries, particularly women and adolescents, ensuring robust community outreach.
The celebrations of Sewa Parv will continue in the coming days and weeks with a series of programmes aimed at deepening public awareness, encouraging volunteerism, and fostering inclusive community development.
