DC Kulgam Felicitates Meritorious Girl Students with Laptops & E-Readers under BBBP Initiative

KULGAM: To promote academic excellence and digital empowerment, the Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women Kulgam organised a Capacity Building and Exhibition Programme on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) aimed at fostering the participation of women and girls excelling in these fields.

The Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), who presided over the function as chief guest, felicitated meritorious girl students from government schools who secured top ranks in the 10th and 12th board examinations.

As a token of appreciation and to aid their further studies, the DC distributed laptops and e-readers to the achievers.

Acknowledging the dedicated efforts of teachers, students, and their parents, the DC remarked that such achievements are a testament to the rising standards of education in government schools across the district.

He encouraged students to stay committed to their academic goals and continue striving for success.

The Deputy Commissioner extended his heartfelt wishes to the students for their future pursuits and assured District Administration’s full support for educational initiatives.

The distribution of laptops and e-readers was carried out under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme, underscoring the Administration’s unwavering commitment to girls’ education and digital inclusion.

On the occasion, various women speakers from different walks of life highlighted the importance of educating and securing the girl child and exhorted strict enforcement of relevant rules and regulations.

The event, organised by the Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women Kulgam, witnessed the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Viqar Ahmed Giri, Chief Education Officer Kulgam, teachers, and proud parents.

The day-long event also featured a Capacity Building & Exhibition Programme on STEM disciplines by SHEW Kulgam, where 15 models were displayed by girl students of different government higher secondary schools.

The top three highest-ranking participants were celebrated for their hard work and contributions to STEM projects and were awarded mementos and education kits by the District Development Commissioner Kulgam.
