SDRF unit established in Sopore
A welcome step by administration, says civil society
Sopore: The Administration has setup the much needed State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) component in north Kashmir’s Sopore town on Tuesday. This demand was raised by locals and other stakeholders after a number of drowning incident happened in the town since last few years.
Chairman of Civil Society Sopore, Aashiq Hussain Zaki, along with other stakeholders and local residents of town extended heartfelt congratulations to the local administration of Sopore on successfully receiving the full contingent of men and machinery of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) component in Sopore.
Zaki specially thanked Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina, for his untiring efforts and commendable commitment in ensuring the deployment of this vital emergency response force in Sopore. He acknowledged Raina’s dedication as a significant step towards enhancing the disaster preparedness and public safety framework in the town.
Zaki also expressed his sincere appreciation to SSP Sopore, Iftikhar Talib, and Tehsildar Sopore, Sheikh Tariq, for their crucial contributions and active coordination in facilitating the smooth arrival of the SDRF personnel and equipment. Their collaborative role reflects the strong commitment of the local administration to safeguard the lives and property of the people.
He further appreciated the proactive role of noted social activist Farooq Ahmad Dar, whose continuous efforts and advocacy contributed meaningfully to this positive development.
Civil Society Sopore considers this move a progressive measure towards strengthening local capacities in disaster response and urges all stakeholders to work collectively for the safety and welfare of the people of Sopore, the spokesman of the organisation said.
