Police seizes nine vehicles involved in illegal extraction of minerals
Srinagar: Police in Handwara carried out a special drive across different areas of the Police District and seized 06 tractors, 03 dumpers, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, a police spokesman said Monday.
He said that acting on specific inputs and in strict compliance with environmental and mining regulations, teams from various police units launched coordinated inspections and checks. Nine vehicles including 06 tippers and 03 dumpers were found operating in violation of mining norms and without valid documentation. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and further investigation is underway, the spokesman added.
